Who is behind besorah learning center?
We are new so this content will be updated as we add new people along the way!
wife – mom – seminary student – writer – teacher
HELLO, I’m Diane and I am the founder of Besorah Learning Center
I am a wife and a mom and a Jewish believer in Yeshua!
In 2018, I founded the online ministry, Worth Beyond Rubies, becoming one of the first Messianic Jewish women to make waves in the broader online Christian community through deep teachings of scripture, Biblical Hebrew, and more.
So that I know I continue to learn so that I can share those learnings with you, I have and continue to study with prominent teachers in the Messianic movement, such as
Rabbi Paul Saal, Head Rabbi of Shuvah Yisrael (my own Rabbi as well) and Professor and Student Dean at MJTI, as well as Co-Founder and Teacher at the New School for Jewish Studies
Rav Carl Kinbar, Founder and Director of the New School of Jewish Studies, Professor at MJTI, and an incredible teacher of Midrash
(Rabbi Paul and Rav Carl I am happy to say I get the privilege of studying with informally almost weekly as well as having taken formal classes with them)
Rabbi Tony Eaton, Executive Director of the Messianic Jewish Rabbinical Council, former Head Rabbi of Simchat Yisrael and Teacher at the New School for Jewish Studies
Rabbi Dr. Vered Hillel – Academic Dean of MJTI, Professor one of my toughest professors and a wonderful human being whom I adore and I am proud to say is the first woman to receive smicha as a Rabbi from the Messianic Jewish Rabbinic Council in 2018 and has given me hope (and a lot of encouragement) that I too can accomplish this!
Dr. Jennifer Rosner, Author, and Professor at MTJI where she teaches courses on Messianic Jewish theology, Jewish-Christian Relations, and Modern Judaism. She is also a Professor at Fuller Theological Seminary and The Kings University. Dr. Jen is a great author and I highly recommend reading her works, especially her new book coming out in May of 2022, Finding Messiah – A Journey into the Jewishness of the Gospel. I had the honor of being on her launch team and the book is specifically for Christians and is life-changing.
Rabbi Joshua Brumbach – Head Rabbi of Simchat Yisrael and Professor of Jewish Studies and Messianic Jewish Spirituality at MJTI. I studied Tanakh with Rabbi Joshua as well as an amazing course on the family of Yeshua. He is an amazing teacher!
Rabbi Russ Resnick – Veteran rabbi, teacher, counselor, and writer, currently serving as Rabbinic Council of the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations. He is an amazing author and teacher and I have been honored to have studied with him, particularly in classes regarding his book with Dr. Mark Kinzer, Besorah – The Resurrection of Jerusalem and the Healing of a Fractured Gospel.
Rabbi Dr. Stuart Dauermann – Head Rabbi of Ahavat Zion Messianic Synagogue in California, and Director of Interfaithfulness, “Buiding Bridges where History Builds Walls.” I participate in his “Brainy Bunch” Bible studies and have taken many courses with him via UMJC and MJTI.
I have also taken various classes with the esteemed Rabbi Dr. Mark Kinzer, Rabbi Elliot Klayman, Rabbi Nathan Joiner, Dr. Rachel Wolf, and Dr. Richard Harvey. I have studied Hebrew with Rabbi Moshe Laurie, of blessed memory, done some Hebrew study with Izzy Avraham of Holy Language Institute, and have done some private tutoring in Hebrew grammar with the EVER patient Rabbi Aaron Allsbrook who had the honor of trying to teach me Hebrew verbs soon after my stroke 🙂
I am blessed to be a member of Yachad BeYeshua, which means “Together in Jesus”. This organization is moderated by Rabbi Dr. Mark Kinzer and, according to the website, is a “newly formed international body which seeks to unite Jewish followers of Yeshua from diverse backgrounds in loving fellowship as a witness to God’s eternal faithfulness to Israel and the Church.”
diane is also a lay cantor
I am also a Lay Cantor, trained through the UMJC with Rabbi Aaron Allsbrook (who also did some private Hebrew tutoring with me as well).
I love everything about Jewish prayer (Davening) and developing new melodies to use for many of the prayers used in the various daily prayers and the Shabbat services. I study Jewish prayer extensively and I love sharing it with others!
An avid student of Mussar, I participate in its study on a weekly basis with my Rabbi and other members of our congregation.
When not studying (which is not often as I always have more than one book or article in progress at a time with school and all), you will find me spending time with my hilarious husband Dave, who is a College Provost, my wonderful kids, and my Olde English Bulldog, Gronk.
I collect books…not as an intentional hobby – it just ends up that way!
I have an ever-growing library of books at my home (that is taking over my living room!) and one of my favorite things to do is visit the used book stores and comb through the Christian and Judaica sections and add to my collection. I especially love when I can find those rare treasures – like I once found these amazing Talmud volumes that I now have in my library!
